We hold our meetings the 3rd Tuesday of each month.  Please bring a snack to share, and your ideas and passion. We will connect, and discuss where we focus our time, energy, and passion.
Come and add your voice, hands and heart to the effort.  Doors open at 6pm, meeting begins at 6:30, and there is time after the meeting for additional networking and discussion. Please come experience it for yourself!

We endorsed Shannon Braddock and Joe Nguyen for the 34th District Senate Primary election in 2018, and spread the news about 4 ballot initiatives, among other items.

We shared announcements of our upcoming actions, like the second meeting of Unifying for Democracy, and the Washington Fair Trade Candidate Forum, and more...


Bunny Hatcher shared the importance of PCOs and the good news of how progressive values are being incorporated into the Washington State democratic platforms for the upcoming midterm elections.


60 people attended the first meeting of Unifying for Democracy - many new faces; not the usual island activists. Key issues identified included  “Taking Money Out of Politics” and “Education & Civics”.


We reviewed the mission of the Vashon Progressive Alliance, and used the numbers from this website to help determine if we are making progress. We are, and we would love some additional energy to take on more projects.


April 17, 2018   We shared announcements of our upcoming actions, like the many activities taking place on Vashon's Earth Day celebration, and May 4th - First Friday Rally for the Working Class 5-7 pm at the 4 Corners intersection in town.

March 20, 2018   We shared announcements of our upcoming actions, like the Vashon March for Our Lives on the 24th. Margy Heldring spoke about her work as President of Grandmothers Against Gun Violence. Founded on Vashon, it now has 900 members across the USA.


February 20, 2018  Jessica Lisovsky  of SURJ: Showing Up for Racial Justice came and presented their activities, and we had a lively discussion about LFO's:  Created Legal Financial Obligations. 

We will be voting next month on endorsing  the Citizens Impeachment Coalition (CIC) If this issue is important to you, please join us for the March meeting, on the 20th.

January 16, 2018  We heard from 3 other progressive groups on the island: Vashon and Maury Islanders for a Living Wage, the Vashon Resettlement Committee, and Power to the Polls Voter Registration.
We decided how we will handle endorsements from Vashon Progressive Alliance. And more. 
  
December 19, 2017  We worked through a proposed procedure to handle endorsements from Vashon Progressive Alliance, and more....

November 21, 2017  We approved a mission statement for the organization, and discussed endorsements, among other topics.

October 17, 2017  We celebrated the success of our voter registration program among Vashon high schoolers, and it looks like the school librarians are going to take the program and run with it. We worked on our mission statement, and healing the divide. Take a look...

September 19, 2017  This was a very important meeting. We unanimously changed the name of the organization to Vashon Progressive Alliance. We also approved our definition of what it means to be Progressive, including progressive policy guidelines.

July 18, 2017  At our July meeting, Amy Morrison reported on the Backbone Campaign activities, we discussed the Resistance Dashboard concept, better aligning the names of the Facebook page Our Revolution Vashon with Revolution Vashon, and Impeach Trump actions, among others.

June 20, 2017      At our June meeting, as usual, we had  wide-ranging  discussions about all the actions people are taking individually and as part of various groups. We covered Impeach Trump Now, a new logo for Revolution Vashon, a summary and discussion of "The 13th" movie, climate change actions, and Strawberry Festival parade opportunities.

May 9, 2017 At our May meeting we had  wide-ranging  discussions about all the actions people are taking individually and as part of various groups. Some of our members were with the 350.org's shutdown of Chase Bank, where 26 people were arrested!   We confirmed many upcoming opportunities for activism on and off island, and connected as friends and fellow/sister activists once more.  Read the details in our minutes from the meeting. April 11, 2017  At our April meeting we had  wide-ranging  discussions about all the actions people are taking individually and as part of various groups. March 14, 2017 At our March meeting we had  wide-ranging  discussions getting Island liberal and conservatives talking to each other,  an important opening in the 45th District, coordinating progressive actions on the island, and how to get more truth in journalism.
